Blackberry Creek - Maine Farm Fresh Products

Blackberry Creek,
Our Story...

Blackberry Creek is a blackberry and blueberry farm in Newport, Maine, owned and operated by my spouse, Jon, and me, Rachel Besch, along with our two supportive labs: Emma (11) and Gwen (7). We purchased the farm in 2019, transforming an overgrown and neglected property and dedicating the past five years to bringing it back into production.

Growing up, Jon split his time between working on a 250-acre dairy farm in Madison, Maine, and delivering hay, grain, and shavings across Cape Cod. These experiences sparked his passion and knowledge of farming. Although I grew up in the city, I was happiest when I had grass under my feet and enjoyed my early years learning in my grandmother’s expansive garden. Both outdoor enthusiasts, Jon and I spent our early adult years actively engaged in snow sports and commercial fishing.

After too many years working for others - Jon running a construction business and me working in corporate America - we decided it was finally time to focus on Maine. After looking across Somerset and Penobscot County, we found our forever home in Newport. It was our lifetime goal to have a farm in Maine on the ocean. Well, we have the farm: Blackberry Creek. Thirty-four acres (three of which are dedicated to farm production), and Maine has 3,478 miles of coastline, so we are pretty close!
